Our Story
The critical need and commitment to make a difference has brought together organizations including Police Services, Fire Departments, School Boards, Paramedic Services, Service Clubs, responsible and engaged corporations, local business, and concerned community members. Our Mission... to provide an innovative and interactive educational safety facility to aid in the elimination of preventable childhood injuries and death. The Saugeen Valley Children's Safety Village is a registered Canadian non-profit charity.
Incorporated in 2009, the Children's Safety Village is located in the Sulphur Spring Conservation Area in the Municipality of West Grey. Though central to Grey and Bruce Counties, the SVCSV extends beyond to include Huron, Perth, Wellington, Dufferin, and Simcoe Counties. The Saugeen Valley Children's Safety Village is open to ALL children with special attention to those facing mental and physical challenges.
The Safety Village features interactive Classrooms and a Miniature Village with down-sized buildings, paved roadways, traffic lights, road signs, and hands-on safety demonstration sites. Full and half day Safety Programs focus on school-age children from Kindergarten to Grade Six with no charge for attending schools.
Additional Safety Programs and Community Events are held throughout the year for youth, adults, seniors, and families. Our goal is to develop a "health & safety culture" by involving children in hands-on safety programs.
